You may not know, but I was on the famous Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld. It was the very first “job” I had when I moved to L.A. I actually got moved up from no lines to switching my part with another guy and they gave me a line of “How’s the turkey chili soup?” Then I get kicked out of line “NO SOUP FOR YOU, GET OUT!” I look at him like, what did I do? And then Kramer says to me, “You heard him kid, get the hell outta here!” and I exit stage left. From that small little bit, I still get mailbox money. Now I am going to give it away!

So there’s this contest called Sound Wars put on by Austinchronicle.com/soundwars. The winner, once you get through all of their rounds, gets some nice FREE advertising, and a coveted spot playing at the Hot Sauce Festival. Sounds pretty yummy and spicy to me. I like hot sauce and I like playing, so these two things stack up nicely for me. I just need to get the votes. But do you really want to vote for me? How can I convince you to sign up and get an account so that you can vote? Apparently, other bands are better at moving their fan base than I am but I’m willing to learn.

Hey everyone, Gruene Hall was an awesome experience last night. Let’s face it, we’re playing for Bob Schneider fans and they don’t know who the hell I was. It looked like an emtpy soccer field in front of me with everyone on the sidelines as if they were waiting for players to emerge and start a game in the empty dance floor space.

I can understand, they don’t know what we sound like, they’re not our fans, they probably expect us to suck as an opener. So it’s already an uphill battle. You have to win the crowd over. At this point, I’m just hoping that my songs and vocals and band are going to be a great suprise and use the moment to win some new fans. Bob fans are loyal so these are “good” fans to have!

I had to pick the energy up in this place! I had to connect with the crowd. I wanted to loosen things up. We started with a nice fast poppy song “Let You In” to punch it right out of the gates. Gradually as time went on, the people came up to the front… yes the disinterested girls at the front of the stage were not coming to get closer to me, they were trying to save themselves a front-row spot for Bob. But I think I got some new fans last night. It was a lot of fun. People seemed to really like what they heard. It was a great show for a great crowd and one of the greatest venues in all of Texas.

Buddy Quaid will be opening up for Bob Schneider at the famous Gruene Hall on Friday, April 1st, 2011!

Gruene Hall is the oldest dance hall in the state of Texas. It has quite a history so check out its website to learn more.
